A DAY IN THE LIFE WITH WUYI OOLONG

Step 1: Wake to the snuffles of your dog’s nose on your face, gently urging you to start your day. There is syrupy sunlight pouring in through your window which inspires you to throw off your duvet and begin your day. Your pup eagerly laps up her breakfast while you toss some fresh bread into the toaster. Your fruity tea steeps in that vintage glass mug you bought at the thrift store last week as you slather apricot jam on your toast.

Step 2: It feels like a swim day, so toss a bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, and water in your bag. Your dog circles your feet as you slip on your sandals. Clip on her leash and head out of the door. The sun is warm on your face, casting a glow through the ginko tree leaves. The traffic in your neighborhood is quiet and you watch crows bobbing their heads as they walk through the lawns in search of breakfast.

Step 3: Pop into a convenience store to buy a magazine and cold bottled tea before continuing your stroll towards the river. When you arrive, notice the groups of people getting ready to go running, play volleyball, and stretch together. Your heart feels warm seeing all of these communities colliding in the same place. You let your dog off her leash and she bounds off towards the water, with you trailing behind. The past few days of warm weather have taken the chill out of the river, leaving it perfectly temperate; cool enough to be refreshing but not shocking.

Step 4: After a plunge, lay out your towel and settle in with your magazine. Feel the sun embrace your goosebumped skin. Your dog lies next to you, beginning to doze off. After an hour or so, you hear a familiar laugh in the distance. Looking up, you see two of your best friends walking your way, waving their arms in your direction. They plop down next to you and begin pulling all sorts of treasures out of their bag that they just found at the local flea market. Your towel becomes a sea of gold bangles, sun-colored dishes, silky scarves and vintage sunglasses. Your friend hands you a glass mug that she found for you, a match to the one you have at home.

Step 5: When your friends head into the water for their dip, you take a big gulp of your tea, close your eyes and doze off, feeling held by your friends this place, and the sun. In this moment, all feels right in your world.
